[shrug] The most empirically successful method for neutralizing fundamentalism is not to attack it directly like that, but instead to use the European method: attack poverty and ignorance with socialist wealth redistribution and very good free public schools. Once the really poor and ignorant are a tiny minority, the fundamentalism just vanishes somehow. Funny how that works.
